What do you think people's reasons are for not taking bisexuality seriously?

I didn't know this was going on. Seems like more where one lives and the people one hangs with would have the best answer.
I'm a little disapointed with some of the answers that have come out of this one. Bisexuals are more slutty then the average joe? They'll steal your boyfriend or girlfriend? What the hell? Straight and gay people can be slutty, AND steal your girlfriend or boyfriend. I know there are people out there who just like to have sex with anyone and call it bisexual, but there are honestly people out there who prefer either. And just because they do, does not make them sluts. Grow up people, and open your eyes a bit.

and I always thought, inorder for one to have happy thoughts, it would be neccesary for one to have a sense of humor as well.

I don't think anyone is making a negative judgement about bi's. It's just a joke. Especcially with the "sluttier" vote (now showing 3 votes), I'm sure one or two of the votes are from bi's who know.
Yeah, I just kind of put those answers up there because I knew no one else would, and yet they are sentiments that I have heard expressed before. And also, it makes me a little bit mad. That's why I made the poll, I guess: to find out what people thought. You're right, it's disappointing. BUT ALSO an indication that the issue of bisexuals can't be slept on! (slept With, maybe...)(j/k)
Hey I have a sense of humor just like the next person. But this poll isn't screaming "joke" to me. I also know that perhaps it is not particularity serious either. But we have to take responsibility for what we put out there. And even if socially irresponsible things are said with a joking intention, we have to realize that there are those who will take it seriously, and perhaps get the wrong idea. Not everyone can see the joke all the time.

It wasn't really a joke at all. I mean, I can see where you might think it's a joke, because lots of people are so open-minded that having a negative attitude about bisexuals is antiquated or ridiculous or whatever. Hopefully, because otherwise why would you automatically assume that it's a joke? Because it's about bisexuals? Who aren't really taken seriously as a group? Which is just what I was asking?
Right but gays have done alot by showing that they have a sense of humor. And They can be funny. Bi's just have to be extra double funny. HA! I had to go there...
Look, I'm sorry you guys are insulted. In my opinion, a little fun here and there is ok. I personally draw the line at hate speech, and the "sluttier" answer is not hate speech. It's just childish play.
BTW, I'm niether gay nor bi, and I didn't vote for the "sluttier" answer. The joke is too tasteless to earn my vote. It's enough of a joke for me to defend it as a joke.
Another point, who takes a group seriously who debates weather or not it itself is serious. By debating the seriousness of bisexuality aren't we failing to take it seriously by default.
People always say gay men are sluttier then everyone on a day to day basis to me. If it was a common thought that people thought bi people were sluttier how is that different then the homosexual male?
I don't think any offense was trying to be made just stating a fact someone has heard.
Someone I know recently quoted the "factual figure" to me that gay men have On Average 22 uniques sex partners a year.
I don't think it's that gay men are sluttier, it's that MEN in general are sluttier. It's the women that keep the heterosexual men in check, LOL
