It would be an amazing day for all Drizzt do' Urden fans if the dark elf was put into a live motion picture. But, could it be pulled off? You would need one hell of a director, an adaptable screenplay, and some damn good actors. So... if Hollywood wanted to put the drow to the big screen what would it need. Who should direct? What book should the begin filming? And who should play the beloved Drizzt do' Urden?

I think it would have a hard time getting funding due to guilt by association. Dungeons and dragons has produced two epicly bad movies so far and I think it would taint any public perception of a new movie.
Ok.. Aside from past films. If someone could find the money, and all that jazz, would it make money if somebody put it onto the big screen.
no, because the general populace doesn't care about D&D or Forgotten Realms or any of that. and by and large, the D&D crowd doesn't go to see movies at the theatre, they download them.
I think a drizzt film could work. Only if it was direct by Guillermo del Toro and starred Orlando Bloom. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking. ;)
One it would be suprising how many goons don't illegally download their movies. Two, Guillermo del Toro directing would be the icing on the cake. But Orlando Bloom, good looking, but just an OK actor in my opinion.
i never said anything about illegally downloading movies.
