Yes - please do. This sounds as though it might be interesting.

Chit... I know what I'm trying to say but I find it difficult to pose the question properly. Oh well... give it a go. I might alter the question later.

It's not working. This topic, is not working.

What made me think of posting this was the Mayans. The Mayans did not know science as we know it. Though there is no apparent reason to throw rocks into your food, they would throw limestone rocks into their stew, and that gave them calcium.

Though they didn't call it calcium and didn't call it science. They knew to do that for whatever reason.

Goliath: Are you trying to link the creation myth in Genesis to scientific explanations of the origins of the universe and life?

Adam = Carbon
Eve = Hydrogen
Apple = Oxygen

So Eve is tempted by Satan to eat the apple and then she takes it to Adam and tempts him to take a bite.

I am no scientist – but how would this work out if we translate the story into science at the chemical level?

Something (Satan) brings oxygen (Apple) to hydrogen (Eve). Eve is the second woman (Lilith being the first) – so Eve can be hydrogen number two. So with her combination with oxygen, we get H2O. Satan was the energy (or whatever it takes) to get two parts of hydrogen to combine with one part oxygen to get water.

Eve/Apple (H20/water) now approaches Adam (Carbon) and persuades him to take a bite. This is water combining with carbon.

Could this be seen as the creation myth crudely representing the processes necessary to create life?

Is this what you meant?

I wonder if anyone has tried something like this before with the whole Genesis story?

I am no scientist, but the idea strikes me as interesting.

It would take a Skrrrriti to do this well.

Yes. "I" was thinking of it much like that.

It is a VAST topic with many possibilities since people might take literally what may be allegoric, and allegoric what might be put literally in the Bible.

Worked with Gerald Massey, who's work in Egyptology I find quite interesting. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerald_Massey

They didn't call it science but it was, posit, test and conclude/ re-test, use logic, they knew to use those specific rocks because they tried other things which didn't have the desired effects. Science just formalizes what humans have done for years. Do you think they just had a vision of throwing rocks in food? A plant sang to them and told them it was good for a stomach ache?

The Mayans often used limestone to build things, and to carve out stelas*, which they would erect for a reason unknown to me. Their society was quite opposite of my society. They held sacred and precious what they had plenty of. Unlike here where if something is rare it is more valuable than what you have much of.

I do believe they used the method of science. But I don't rule out that they could have taken an herb that activated and synergized with their brain causing a vision of what or how to do. Not necessarily in the case of the limestone, but overall.

Their society was SO different in SO MANY ways. For example... All debts were cleared every "several" (Don't remember the number right now) decades, yet they didn't have money. Meaning, a piece of something standardized to represent value.
