Changes started in the mid 21st Century are emphasised through new legal frameworks that encourage 'green activities' and criminalise actions that have a negative impact upon the environment. These are reinforced, and in many ways over-taken, by the social pressures to act in environmentally friendly ways as concerns grow about the challenges faced.
Changes in the political and public acceptance of genetic engineering in light of new 'super bugs' and the scientific developments in the field allowing new ways of healing and pre-healing.
Governments use the "threat of terrorism" to justify increased spend on surveillance technology and intelligence databases.
Cameras become a part of life in cities, on roads and beyond, while massive databases amalgamate all the information the government holds about each individual. Combined with new laws reducing true freedoms and individual rights, by 2035 technology has bought today's democratic societies to the edge of being police states.
The comming of a united world authority with respect & power, or the lack of it.

As we crawl slowly up maslow's heirarchy of needs, moving beyond the essentials like food, safety and protection we develop the ability (and freedom) to play. We can spend our time and money on the things that give us pleasure - not just the things that we need to survive.
Isn't this "play" what life is really about?
Given the global surge in development, the millions of people moving out of poverty and up the same heirarchy of needs there should hopefully be more play for all ... though economics sugggests that this will not be the case. Rather the wealth of one nation may well come at the cost to another.
The way to ensure your survival is to be ahead of the curve. To keep your skills fresh, and honed to deal with this evolving landscape. And, if you get it right, those skills get rewarded ... with money!
So - like it or hate it - the thing that will most effect your future in 2035 is your own ability to stay ahaead of the curve ... which in turn is rewarded with ... money!
(it may suck, but it does also keep this capitalistic planet going around)
