I can imagine cases where you might want to add an answer to a question, without being assiciated with it (forever). I often add answers for other people, without voting on them.

Perhaps the ability to answer anonymously could be a reward for Grupie points earned.
One reason we haven't added this feature yet is our concern for accountability by all Grupies. Ideally, everyone should be accountable for the content they post to the site. That's especially important in cases where irrelevant (or illegal) material is posted. So, we worry that anonymous answers could degrade the overall quality of the site.
On the other hand, an "anonymous" option could free some people up to provide helpful answers which they don't support, or answers which they might be embarrassed by.
What are your thoughts?
How about a checkbox saying "People can answer anonymously", that appears when adding a question.
no i go with Steven... people should say what they think and stick up for it. i mean, in some way we are anonym on this page... i mean, i have only know one person on here personally. my ex :)
I think that animousity invites abuse more than it provides positive input. Sorry, I'm getting pretty jaded. Maybe, if there was some sort of filter ... yeah and THAT smacks of censorship ... it's a delicate balance.

If someone wanted to post something obscene or illegal, they could just start a new account. I think anonymous answers is a good thing because that way people won't base their vote on popularity level of the person who submitted it.
