#7 The "Preacher"
I think he passed away a few years ago. He used to stand around Higgins & Broadway, yelling with a bible in his hand. I heard he was actually nice to talk to.
Anyone have a picture? I think he was featured in the Independent at one time.

His name was Red.
Once when my oldest daughter was about 4 we took her to a movie at the Wilma. We were standing in line out front with a crowd of people and the preacher was on the corner doing his signature yell, "...HEY!...jesus". We were used to it but my daughter hadn't encountered it yet, so she moved to the side of the crowd facing the preacher and shouted back with a big smile on her face, "Hey!" I wasn't sure what to do, then the preacher did another "HEY!" And my daughter went along with it and gave another loud, "Hey!" People were smiling because they knew she wasn't making fun of him and was just reacting innocently. I thought about how we all stood there and tried to ignore him but a little girl just thought it was normal to hang out and yell with him. We went into the movie after that and she never brought it up, but its one of my fond memories of the preacher. Every time I visit Missoula now I see the street corner that he sat on and it seems odd not to see him there.
