He is too big for Ranger, and not nearly as attractive as I imagine Ranger is. He doesn't have that Batman/mystery man quality to him that Ranger emits.

One. The Rock is Samoan.
Two. Ranger isn't as tall, nor big as the rock.

I do agree with you all though, Ranger's just too fabulous. It'll be hard to cast. The Rock's hot, don't get me wrong. Just not Ranger material.

Now in my imagination he isn't either but here's the thing, JE never says if he is or not. She says he's Cuban. That leaves it open to interpretation. Some Cubans are black.
Plus The Rock is only 1/2 black the other half is white and Islander.
I definitely picture someone of The Rock's color or a little darker when I read the books. But, unfortunately, The Rock seems more like an open book to me, and Ranger is the man of mystery.

I am not sure that JE has ever specified. We know he's Cuban American, more than likely born here (though again JE doesn't specify) raised in a Cuban home but that doesn't mean he has an accent. If he does it's probably very faint.
JE has a habit of being very vague on details and leaving the reader to fill in the blanks.
See that's the beauty of a book...we can all imagine Ranger as we want him to be. I really think a movie would ruin the mystique. And lets be honest, its rare when a movie does a book justice.
Anyway my Tank is Michael Clarke Duncan. He's perfect.

The Rock is my first and only choice for Ranger. I can't picture anyone else playing the part. He's built and sexy!
