"Way" too old? How old do you think Stephanie is? She's not a 20-something. As she puts it, she hasn't had "a good social orgasm since Reagan was in the White House." Reagan left office in 1989. Stephanie is 30/31 in the first book, so she's at least late 30s/early 40s. Ditto Morelli, since they went to school together.
About Stephanie's age...see page 2 of High Five. Stephanie says about Connie..."She's a couple years older than me, which puts her in her early thirties." So no way is Stephanie at this point in her late thirties or early forties as one person suggested.
Sandra would have been perfect for Steph ten years ago, but not now. We do need a fresh, not-so-known face. Also, the rock is too hard core for Ranger, not mysterious, or knock-out handsome either. He's too old too. In High Five, Steph places Ranger between 25 and 35 years old. I Think the rock is older than that now.
All the characters in the book are in their early/mid thirties at this point, so their big screen characters should represent that too.

Could you be any angrier? I am 36 and Sandra is 42. How old do you think Stephanie is? I'm not sure of her age but I know that she is NOT in her 40s... probably late 20's. So if they use Sandra and they make 4 movies - each movie takes 2 years. That makes her 50 by the 4th movie. That'd be a smart move.
Well, Stephanie doesn't actually look Italian anyway. Her description is always that she got her mothers genes...her sister got the Italian looks. As for Stephanie's age, she says she's 30 in book 1, and a few years progress throughout the books, so anywhere from 30-33ish. Sandra can pull that off for sure.
Kibber- yeah her sister dyed her hair blonde when she moved to California, so she says her hair makes her look like Meg Ryan...in other places though she says she's overall darker than Steph.
I think Sandra Bullock is too old to play early 30's. She is great, but not right for this part. I think Amanda Peet or Lauren Graham would play a great "cupcake."
She isn't too old to play Stephanie Plum. She still looks fairly young for her age.

according to Evanovich.com...the whole idea of a movie/tv series has been shelved. And, Reese gave the role to HERSELF. Janet always imagined Sandra Bullock in the role. I hope they reopen the idea of a movie, although a TV series would be awesome too...weekly doses of Ranger & Morelli. Yum-O!

As soon as I read the first book, I pictured Sandra Bullock as my Stephanie, Antonio Banderas as Ranger and Estelle Getty as Grandma Mazur. There was an actress in a Snickers commercial that I thought would ROCK as Lula, don't know how to find out who that was tho. (It took place in a grocery store when another woman thought she was pregnant and she really wasn't)

Whenever I watch a Movie with Sandra Bullock I think well that could be Stefanie Plum, BUT if I had to pick someone really good for that part, I woul pick Jennifer Garner or Lauren Graham.
Jennifer Garner because she can be funny and ass kicking at the same time.
Lauren Graham because she has the attitude and the goof that Stefanie Plum also has...........think about it.

Ever since I read ONE, I have had the vision that Sandra is Stephanie.......I believe it to this day! Great choice
