Thanks so much for your contribution - Unfortunately, it doesn't add one bit to the discussion, and as such, I have marked it as Not Relevant. Sorry.

Holotone, while I appreciate your sentiment (to some extent), there are others of us who have chosen to "sacrifice" the big $ (as you put it) to enjoy the lifestyle we want - and we don't all live in Montana. Should we start a separate topic for the rest of the world - are you really _that_ xenophobic?
Personally speaking, I chose to live in Wellington, New Zealand because of the fantastic life-style that I can have here, although I could be earning three or four times as much in the UK or the US (probably not Montana, though).
I didn't create the topic, so I'm not going to do much good defending it.
FYI, this topic was created before "Grups" were an option.. This one would have been perfect for the "Montana" grup, fwiw.
As a side note, my annoyance is with any "answer" that doesn't add anything to the discussion, whatever the topic may be. Not some sort of perceived xenophobia, wherever the hell you pulled that from.
(Note: This is also posted on the topic page, but it seemed almost more relevant here.)
Maybe a bit of an explanation is in order...
I posted this question on July 20th, 2006. it was probably one of my first 4 or 5 posts. Most of the Grupies that I was getting to know seemed to be in Montana with a scattering of friends in places like Calgary and Florida.
I myself am a Northern California transplant to this fair state. I've come close once or twice to getting the "big bucks" (which really wasn't so much), but living in these areas... stress, crime, crowding, lack of outdoor opportunities, miserable S.O.B.'s to work with... Well, my (now ex-) wife and I decided that our Quality of life was much more important than that big S.U.V. in the driveway of the new house that we never saw because we were both too busy working trying to pay for it all.
So that's my story. The other side of the story is the exponential growth of grupthink. From my POV, it looks like we are now a much more widespread grup than when I posted this question. Also, I've met more and more grupies (Give a holla!) from many different places since then, and I think that it's great.
One way that you can sound off about where you're from is to join the frappr Grupies map (http://www.frappr.com/grupies). As of today, we have a couple thousand registered grupies and only 38 on the frappr map! Look at this! 11 of these entries are in Montana. That's almost one third! Is it any wonder I thought that the grupthink world revolved around Montana?
(BTW, Aoterra, I see you on there! Coolness! One of my first IT managers took a 3-week vacation to New Zealand... She loved it and had a great time... very nice people over there)
In conclusion,
1). Forgive me. There is another world outside Montana's borders. Sometimes, I forget that.
2). Sound off! Get on the Frappr map! It's fun, it's easy...
