see I'm not sure about this, I guess it depends on the job, colorful language can be a sign of comfort among colleagues, profs in my dept cuss like sailors

Yep... they already got the job... they can say pretty much whatever they want.

Profanity has become so common (especially amongst younger generations) that I think people often forget that it is still very offensive to many and may even be viewed as a weakness by professionals, either because it may demonstrate an inability to articulate or an insufficient vocabulary to say what you mean without resorting to "colorful" language.
Seems to me that a person would be wise to avoid the possibility of offending the interviewer. Save your profanity for some other time.

It's a pretty unique situation if a person actually got "the job" because they cussed!
