Valerian is a good thing. I take it in tea form, although it can also be found in capsules, and with supplemental flavors in bags.
By itself the taste takes some getting used to, but honey can always be added.
It has a very pronounced calming effect that is very subtle, and very worthwhile.
Taken in times of anxiety it can be very useful, taken before bed and it is very relaxing, and a single cup has no after effects. However, more than one cup leaves one feeling rather groggy the next morning. But one cup is just the right amount.
I have a Valerian plant in my garden and one of these days I'll harvest the roots.
It is a good thing.
