#15 Once for it, now against it.
It's not a deterrent. It's way too arbitrary. And they're finding more and more people who have been screwed by a corrupt and/or faulty system.
If you released all the minor criminals who more than likely will never pose a threat to society after they've served a reasonable amount of time, there'd be ample room in prison for those who don't belong in society. There would also be less reason for the bleeding hearts to boo-hoo-hoo if prisons were run like prisons and and not daycare centers.
